Statement of Professional Philosophy

No one person educates a child. It takes a team with a common vision that is willing to trust in each other and make decisions that are best for the child. Education happens when we embrace many different points of view and embrace an open and honest forum for dialogue moving forward.

The force and the drive behind every decision, behind every action during my career as an educator is: “We will make our decisions based upon what is best for the kids.” Whether it is curriculum development, professional development, school safety, or character development, as educators, we will have a profound impact on the lives of our students.

Through my education at Toms River Schools and through my tenure of teaching at Toms River Schools, I have been influenced and motivated by some of the very best. I strongly believe in empowerment for students and teachers. I believe that a positive school culture will nurture and support the vision, mission, and goals of a school. Through a shared responsibility to promote and enrich an atmosphere of trust, a school will flourish. Through a strong belief that every child can learn, if given the opportunity, leaders can inspire teachers.

No one person educates a child. It takes a team with a common vision that is willing to trust in each other and make decisions that are best for the child. Most importantly it takes courageous leadership that empowers the school community, so that decisions regarding education really make sense and are part of a greater conversation for everyone.

By recruiting dedicated and skilled teachers, with strategic focus upon teacher retention, we can empower, improve, and strengthen the already rigorous curriculum. Providing learning support programs for students with special needs and concentrated upon authentic assessment and balanced reporting of student progress.
